Everything you need to know about sports massage therapy, what to expect, and how we can help you recover.
Sports massage can be intense, especially if you have tension or knots. However, it should never be unbearable. I work with you to find the right pressure — deep enough to be effective, but always within your comfort zone. Communication during the session is key.
Wear comfortable, loose clothing. You'll be able to undress to your level of comfort and will be properly draped with a towel throughout the session. If we've discussed a specific sports injury, bring any relevant medical reports or scan results.
For training athletes, weekly or bi-weekly sessions are ideal for maintenance. If you're recovering from an injury, 2–3 sessions per week initially may be recommended. For occasional athletes or maintenance, once a month works well. We'll tailor a plan to your goals.
Sports massage is excellent for muscular issues — strains, tightness, scar tissue, and overuse injuries. During our first session, I'll assess your condition and let you know if massage therapy is appropriate or if you should see a physiotherapist or doctor first.
